Singer and Songwriter Thami Shobede joined Idols SA last year, he made his way to the top but didn’t win. That doesn’t mean that he is not talented, the singer pushed to make it in the music industry and has now released an album titled Never Lost which released today.His debut single is an afro-pop song titled Sthandwa which was released last year. Thami spoke about his fear in the music industry, he stated that he doesn’t want be a has-been or just the guy that joined Idols SA.
He admitted to be the living witness of how tough life gets after Idols. “During the competition I was the centre of attention. I was trending on Twitter and often had thousands of followers add me each week. Suddenly‚ when I left the competition‚ I wasn’t competing with my fellow Idols contestants but with some of the biggest artists in the country: Kelly Khumalo‚ Robbie Malinga and Khaya Mthethwa. I had to market myself in a whole new way and really work hard to stand out‚” he said.
He mentioned all of this in an interview with TshisaLive, also adding how nervous he was when his album got released “I hardly slept the night before the launch of the album because I was so worried about what people would think of it. The response so far has been great and I am humbled‚” he said. The artist is signed under Gallo Record Company,the lead single on the album is the song Sthandwa. The album is available on iTunes fro pre-order.
