Not ‘Usifaka Ezozweni’ But ‘As Far You Can’ – Bongo Maffin Clarifies Confusion

Thandiswa Mazwai shocked that people sang their song incorrectly for years.

Not ‘Usifaka Ezozweni’ But ‘As Far You Can’ – Bongo Maffin Clarifies Confusion.  A large number of people who were old enough to know good music back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s will remember the hit single by Bongo Maffin titled Thath’Isgubhu.

The song was a huge hit across Africa, the funny thing is that for all these years people who sang along to the song got the lyrics wrong – mind you, it has been over 15 years.

Most people sang like “Thath’Isgubhu Usifak’ezozweni, Ezozweni Fake Ama Specs Uzobuzwa Ubumnandi Obulapho” – many people were still singing the song like this until Thandiswa Mazwai came forward to clear the confusion. She also wasn’t aware that the people got the lyrics wrong which astonished her. So, instead of “Usifaka Ezozweni” it is “As Far As You Can”.
