SA Musicians Who Have Won BET Awards – The BET Awards, launched by Black Entertainment Television to recognize the best in African American culture, maintains an international category for black music from outside the United States.
These are our South African musicians who have made us proud and won the BET awards and lifted our flag up high.
Check out the top 3:
1. Black Coffee
The awards were being held in Los Angeles in 2016 and Black Coffee beat out the likes of AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Diamond Platnumz, MzVee, Serge Beynaud, Wizkid and Yemi Alade. Wearing a green suit.
Musician Sjava walked away victorious at the prestigious BET Awards in 2018, where he got the nod for the Viewers’ Choice Best International Act category. He was nominated alongside Nigeria’s Niniola and Kwesi Arthur of Ghana.
We are celebrating with the star following bagging another one, she won the Best New International Act at the reputable 2019 BET Award in Los Angeles.
She is a force to be reckoned with, she first bagged awards in Mzansi, walked away with the newcomer of the year and female artist of the year awards at the South African Music Awards (Sama) earlier this month. Now, she went ahead to represent us as Africans. She was up against artists such as Teniola Apata from Nigeria, Headie One and Octavian from the UK, and France’s Jokair and Nesly.
